Are we looking at... (5.00 / 2)
the Iranian hostage crisis (circa 1979) all over again, this time with the Brits?

Yeah - it's past time we got out of the kitchen. We have been fucking up those couscous recipes long enough with our grubby paws...

We need to accept our "bitch" status on the world stage..... (5.00 / 1)
before we can come out with monstrous epic acres of bullshit that the world would politely nod and smile at but we fucked with their money and now our government and nation is broke.

Pitiful helpless giant brought to it's knees by the stateless corporate succubus that throws pennies at our representatives campaign funds to reap major rewards and huge returns at the expense of a populace that will just take it up the ass.

What great slaves we are.

Okay, Rush Limbaugh (1.00 / 2)
Obama could do what exactly to affect Iran?

Give me a fucking break and step down from the ledge.  You might as well let Ann Coulter write your fucking posts if this is what you're going to put forth.

Obama could do what exactly to affect Iran?

Didn't say anything about that.

Kinda talking about his stance on gay marriage being unconstitutional along with preventative detention and the torture that continues in the jails even today.

Buuuuut I wanna play "yell crazy out-of-nowhere about shit I pulled out of my ass" so I object to this comment that says such derogatory things about the Slavic people.

This stereotyping of them is something O'Reilly would post!

Weird (5.00 / 1)
I didn't see you say anything about gay marriage, torture, etc.  The diary is about Iran and hostages taken by Iran.

I guess all that other stuff was written with invisible ink.  :)

Obama...has the political mandate of God...

So, you admit he's the messiah?!

And in other news...the CIA, its effectiveness and global reach clearly rejuvenated (0.00 / 0)
under Obama, rigs the Argentine election a mere two weeks after staging the Iranian rebellion, a month after tricking "socialist" Britain into electing neo-nazis to parliament.

Now you have even more worldwide injustice formented by Obama for you [not] to protest.

Hows your summer goin so far, young traveler? When are those hordes of your teen posse goin to descend upon this place, as earlier promised?

RIOTOUS!

Case ANYBODY is interested.....this is a real leftist political position: (0.00 / 0)
Senator Jim Webb is launching the first determined bid in forty years to overhaul the US criminal justice system at whose call is the American gulag. Alexander Cockburn reports on the prospects for his success.

But no. Yur not interested are you, Mr and Ms. Whiteysphere?

Too busy googling for propaganda in support of the Mullahs, arent you?

RIOTOUS!

Meanwhile, back in the real world, y'knw, the one totally rigged (1.00 / 1)
by Obama and his flying squadron of CIA donkeys....

JERUSALEM - Israel would be open to a complete freeze of settlement building in the West Bank for three to six months as part of a broad Middle East peace endeavor that included a Palestinian agreement to negotiate an end to the conflict and confidence-building steps by major Arab nations, senior Israeli officials said Sunday.

The officials spoke before a planned meeting in Washington on Tuesday between Israel's defense minister, Ehud Barak, and George J. Mitchell, the Obama administration's Middle East envoy, and said this was the message Mr. Barak would take with him.

The freeze would not affect construction that was already under way, nor include East Jerusalem. But it would mean that during the specified time no construction of any kind could start even in the close-in settlement blocks that Israel expects to keep in any future two-state agreement with the Palestinians.

While such an offer falls short of President Obama's demand that Israel halt all settlement building now, it is the most forthcoming response that senior Israeli officials have given to date and suggests that American pressure is having some effect. Until now, Israeli officials have insisted that settlements cannot be asked to end "natural growth" or "normal life," meaning building for the children of those living there.

AGAIN: Are You Ready for War with a Demonized Iran? (5.00 / 1)
Iran is in a rather repressive mode. But it is not a living hell, like say, Saudi Arabia, or Myanmar (Burma). Everybody there is dominated by religious "leaders." Which is not entirely pleasant (but a lot goes on behind closed doors, of course).

The wealthy young students and professionals in Iran are a lot like their U.S. counterparts. They too want the a lot of freedom. They want modernity, freedom from "old superstitions," "education," etc. All that sort of thing. And the religious excess of the pious masses looks rather stupid to them.

Ahmadinejad, the religiously conservative, economically socialist guy beat Mousavi, the religiously conservative, economically fascist (but "liberal") guy who wanted to privatize Iran's oil by approximately two out of three votes, as predicted by the only legitimate polls.

You must appreciate that Iran is a vital stepping-stone on the path to the Western Powers (U.S.A., England, E.U.) (CIA, MI-6) gaining control of the Caspian and Middle East Oil. The Eastern Powers (Russia, China, Brazil, Vietnam, India, Philippines, et al.) want this same oil. So the big western oil companies would be happy if a lot of American "liberal" young Turks decide to hate Ahmadinejad, and by extension, Iran, so they can "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran." The smart people know that this could cause WW-III, but who cares what they think?

The first order of business should be to stop the new cold war. If we don't, we will have WW-III. So let's begin by stopping the two minute hate against Iran's regime. Most readers here will be familiar with Paul Craig Roberts. "Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration. He is coauthor of The Tyranny of Good Intentions." [And he is now a major peace advocate.]

Why the US Wants to Delegitimize the Iranian Elections

Are You Ready for War with a Demonized Iran?
By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

[....]

What is the source of the information for the U.S. media and the American puppet states?

Nothing but the assertions of the defeated candidate, the one America prefers.

However, there is hard evidence to the contrary.  An independent, objective poll was conducted in Iran by American pollsters prior to the election. The pollsters, Ken Ballen of the nonprofit Center for Public Opinion and Patrick Doherty of the nonprofit New America Foundation, describe their poll results in the June 15 Washington Post.  The polling was funded by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and was conducted in Farsi "by a polling company whose work in the region for ABC News and the BBC has received an Emmy award."*

The poll results, the only real information we have at this time, indicate that the election results reflect the will of the Iranian voters.  Among the extremely interesting information revealed by the poll is the following:
______________________________
______________

"Many experts are claiming that the margin of victory of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the result of fraud or manipulation, but our nationwide public opinion survey of Iranians three weeks before the vote showed Ahmadinejad leading by a more than 2 to 1 margin -- greater than his actual apparent margin of victory in Friday's election.

Please read the entire article! It's amazing!

Well hey you got something there (0.00 / 0)
Nothing tells me a poll reflects reality more than it's conductors having previously won a fucking EMMY AWARD!

I Didn't Write The Quote. (0.00 / 0)
Turns out there is an "International Emmy, a US Emmy, and 20 "regional" Emmy awards! Almost anything having to do with TV can get an Emmy.

I don't watch TV, but at a friend's house the other day I noticed that TV has begun advertising itself, trying to shed the image that it is the boob tube. Bloggers should declare all-out war against TV.

Interesting article:

Guardian.co.uk: Ahmadinejad is who Iranians want

The breadth of Ahmadinejad's support was apparent in our pre-election survey. During the campaign, for instance, Mousavi emphasised his identity as an Azeri, the second-largest ethnic group in Iran after Persians, to woo Azeri voters. Our survey indicated, though, that Azeris favoured Ahmadinejad by 2 to 1 over Mousavi.

You missed my point (0.00 / 0)
WTF does winning an Emmy Award have to do with someone being a credible scientific pollster?

Nothing.

The United States can't just simply keep meddling in other people's affairs. (0.00 / 0)
Let the Iranians and the Palestinians make their own mistakes.
